Some information, such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, professional memberships or other sensitive information, may be sensitive information under Australian privacy law. CDR only collects sensitive information where it is reasonably necessary, with consent or where otherwise permitted by law.

3. How we collect information
We generally collect information directly from you when you contact CDR, submit a CV, discuss an opportunity or hiring requirement, request a report, use a website form, complete a Positioning Questionnaire, engage a paid service or communicate with us.

We may also collect relevant professional information from publicly available sources, LinkedIn and other professional networking platforms, referrals, referees and clients or candidates involved in a recruitment process. Kondo may assist CDR in managing LinkedIn relationships and conversations.

4. How we use information

  • Provide recruitment, search, freelance, contract and related services

  • Assess roles, candidate suitability, career goals and market alignment

  • Communicate with candidates, clients, prospective clients and professional contacts

  • Introduce a candidate to a prospective employer only after obtaining the candidate’s agreement for that specific opportunity

  • Arrange interviews, references, offers, onboarding and follow-up

  • Provide Market Positioning Reviews and other requested guidance

  • Deliver reports, resources and information requested through the website

  • Send relevant marketing or market communications where permitted, with an unsubscribe option

5. Candidate permission and references
CDR does not submit a candidate’s CV or profile to a prospective employer without first obtaining the candidate’s agreement for the specific opportunity. By agreeing to be represented, the candidate authorises CDR to disclose relevant application information to that prospective employer for the recruitment process.

CDR will ordinarily obtain a candidate’s permission before contacting referees. Referees should only provide information they are authorised to share.

Candidates should ensure that referees are aware their details have been provided to CDR and are willing to be contacted.

6. Sharing personal information
CDR does not sell personal information. We may share it where reasonably necessary with prospective employers or candidates involved in an agreed recruitment process; referees; professional advisers; regulators or authorities where required or authorised by law; and trusted technology or business service providers supporting CDR’s operations.

These service providers may include recruitment CRM, website hosting and forms, email, document storage, relationship-management, accounting, security and IT-support providers. CDR currently uses services including JobAdder, Wix, Google Workspace and Kondo.

7. Storage, security and sensitive documents
CDR takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information is principally stored in JobAdder and other trusted business systems with access controls appropriate to CDR’s operations.

Where identification or work-rights documents are received by email or downloaded locally, CDR takes reasonable steps to delete unnecessary duplicate copies after secure upload to the relevant business system.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. If CDR becomes aware of a data incident, it will assess and respond to it in accordance with applicable obligations.

8. Overseas processing
Some technology providers used by CDR may store or process personal information outside Australia. Wix states that it stores personal information in data centres in the United States and Ireland and may process information in other countries through its group companies and service providers. Google also operates servers internationally. Other providers may use international infrastructure or support locations.

CDR uses reputable service providers and takes reasonable steps appropriate to its operations when managing personal information through those services. Provider locations and practices may change over time.

9. Retention and deletion
CDR retains personal information only for as long as it remains reasonably necessary for recruitment, relationship management, legal, insurance, accounting or operational purposes. Records are periodically reviewed and may be securely deleted or de-identified when no longer required.

You may ask CDR to delete information about you. CDR will consider the request subject to any legal, contractual, record-keeping or legitimate business requirements that require information to be retained.

10. Website forms, cookies and reports
Wix collects email addresses and other details submitted through CDR’s website forms, including requests for the Hiring & Market Report. The website may also use cookies and similar technologies necessary for security, functionality and basic site operation. CDR does not currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or other separate advertising-tracking tools.

Information supplied through the current report form is used to provide the requested report and does not automatically subscribe the person to ongoing marketing. If CDR later offers an ongoing newsletter or marketing subscription through the same form, this should be clearly explained and offered through a separate choice. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting CDR.

11. Access and correction
You may ask to access personal information CDR holds about you or request that inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date information be corrected. CDR may need to verify your identity before responding. In some circumstances permitted by law, access may be refused; if so, CDR will explain the reason where appropriate.

12. Privacy enquiries and complaints
If you have a question, access or correction request, or concern about CDR’s handling of personal information, contact Kelly Kettle-White at kelly@cdrec.com.au. Please provide enough detail for the matter to be understood and reviewed.

CDR will acknowledge and assess the matter, may request further information or identity verification, and aims to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with CDR’s response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. The OAIC can advise whether it is able to consider your matter under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

13. Changes to this policy
CDR may update this policy to reflect changes to its business, technology, services or legal obligations. The latest version will be published on the website with the date of the most recent update.
